I attended the Honolulu Triathalon last weekend and brought my camera and drone with me. I got some pretty cool shots of the swimming chaos from above. Photos of a race like this have always been on my photography bucket list. I really want to get a drone video above the start of a marathon. Anyways, enjoy some triathalon photos.
We looked, then we saw him, step in on the mat. We looked and we saw him, the cat in the hat!
A few of my favorite photos from the last few days. All taken with a Canon 5d mk iv and a Canon 24-70L 2.8.
I did some filming downtown to play with a new Tiffen ND filter, keeping the shutter speed a little slower for smoother video. Seemed to work great, I didn’t experience any of the “X” effect all the reviews talked about at max. The Adobe Premiere warp stabilizer seems to have gone a little crazy in the video a few times. I’ll have to figure out how to control that.
Anyway, enjoy some of the colors and the smaller details of downtown Honolulu, Hawaii in the video below.
I’m really into street portraits at the moment. Its a little scary going up to random interesting looking people on the street and asking if you can take their photo. But whats the worst that could happen? They just say “no”. Heres a pair of street portraits from today in Honolulu taken with a Canon 5d mk iv.
Cheap oceanfront property on Oahu with views of Diamond Head. Available now.
A good friend of mine started the Doner Shack, a restaurant serving Berlin-style Turkish doner kebab located in Honolulu on Fort Street downtown. I made a quickie video showing some behind the scenes stuff. My camera was struggling to focus a few times, oh well its an excuse to go back, reshoot, have have another mix plate!
Give the doner shack a visit asap. I’ve never met someone who doesn’t like their food.
Learning about jumps and whip cuts in Adobe premiere cc with my Canon 5d. Made a quickie video of my experimenting. Ignore the fact that my kids are filthy and need hair cuts, thanks haha.
Some laid back video of a tiny day at Kewalo Beach Park on Oahu’s south shore. Too bad the waves were so small but the beautiful day more than made up for it.
I’m slowly getting better at controlling my Mavic 2 pro and I’ll be much better come summertime swells.
More video from the mavic 2 pro drone at Keawaula Beach and Yokohama Bay on Oahu’s west side. I’m still getting comfortable keeping the drone stable and not making jerky or drastic direction changes while filming. Its a lot harder than it would seem.
