Corey RothwellI attended the Honolulu Triathalon last weekend and brought my camera and drone with me. I got some pretty cool shots of the swimming chaos from above. Photos of a race like this have always been on my photography bucket list. I really want to get a drone video above the start of a marathon. Anyways, enjoy some triathalon photos.
More video from the mavic 2 pro drone at Keawaula Beach and Yokohama Bay on Oahu’s west side. I’m still getting comfortable keeping the drone stable and not making jerky or drastic direction changes while filming. Its a lot harder than it would seem.
Took the drone up super high at Ala Moana Beach Park last week and got some wide shots of the buildings downtown and the view looking toward Diamond Head.
I’m loving my mavic 2 pro. Every flight I get more comfortable with flying, landing and using all the remote control features. Highly recommended.
Got this weird angle of Magic Island from the drone. I was flying much lower than usual because of the low flying tour helicopters blazing past at 100 feet every few minutes. But sometimes being constrained helps you be more creative. I’d never seen this angle before.
Another amazing sunset on the west side of Oahu. Caught a solo surfer enjoying the view. Shot this quickie on a mavic 2 pro drone.
I was at Kahala Beach park flying my drone around and spotted this guy spear fishing. I always wished I knew a SINGLE thing about fishing. Growing up in Hawaii that is pretty embarrassing. Hopefully at 38 years old its not too late for me to learn.
Diamond Head to Downtown Honolulu from my Mavic 2 pro. This was up about 1300 feet above Kahala beach park. The remote started getting laggy at this distance but i managed to snap this photo. Its so cool seeing these angles that you could previously only capture from a helicopter.
Flew the drone around Iolani Palace for a few mins before it was attacked by 30+ aggressive birds and I ran away. Heres a shot of the iconic Hawaiian flag flying high above the front of the palace.
I always try to take photos from odd or different angles. My Mavic 2 pro drone helps out a lot with that.
Flew the Mavic 2 up pretty high and got this shot head-on of Diamond Head Crater on Oahu. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this angle because it doesn’t show that Waikiki silhouette view. It gets a little scary flying the drone around with so many low-flying helicopters blasting around.
We can also see Koko Crater in the background from this angle too.
Experimenting with my Mavic 2 in the city. I think I need to try this again closer to sunset. Need them long shadows.
