Corey RothwellA few photos that are a little more abstract from around Honolulu. Since I purchased my camera, I’ve become so much more aware of colors and patterns in everyday life. Its fun trying to capture it all. I’m sure I look like a weirdo taking photos of dimly lit old staircases, odd fluorescent lighting from the 1970s or the bricks of a sidewalk, but oh well.
Took the drone up super high at Ala Moana Beach Park last week and got some wide shots of the buildings downtown and the view looking toward Diamond Head.
I’m loving my mavic 2 pro. Every flight I get more comfortable with flying, landing and using all the remote control features. Highly recommended.
I’ve been hoping to come across one of these old staircases for awhile and I found one at the Stangenwald Building on Merchant Street downtown. Anyone know of more like this on Oahu?

Got this weird angle of Magic Island from the drone. I was flying much lower than usual because of the low flying tour helicopters blazing past at 100 feet every few minutes. But sometimes being constrained helps you be more creative. I’d never seen this angle before.

My dad has a big ol motor boat and took us for an amazing ride today. We cruised around in front of Waikiki and enjoyed the view. It was unfortunately a little too windy to swim today.
I brought my drone but forgot to charge the batteries. Ugh. But got some photos with the Canon 5d.
I was at Kahala Beach park flying my drone around and spotted this guy spear fishing. I always wished I knew a SINGLE thing about fishing. Growing up in Hawaii that is pretty embarrassing. Hopefully at 38 years old its not too late for me to learn.
At the Hawaii State Capitol building toward the end of the day on a Thursday. Taken with a Canon 5d and 24-70L lens. I really like the wavy white post reflections off the shiny floor.
The man in the photo turned to look at me soon after this shot. I ran away to the next floor above. A few minutes later he appeared looking for me. I expected the standard “delete that photo you took of me”. But he actually just wanted a copy. Thanks!
